Valorant is a light game, and that is exactly what makes it counter-intuitive to diagnose. Your graphics card is bored, and your counter still caps out. That is normal, and the graphics menu will not fix it.
That cap is not in the graphics menu. It is in Windows, in your driver, and in a memory profile your motherboard never enabled. And there is one thing you must never touch on a Riot game.
What really holds Valorant back
Valorant is CPU-limited in the vast majority of cases. The engine is deliberately light so it runs everywhere, so what decides your frame rate is your CPU clock speed, your memory speed, and everything stopping either of them from working for the game.
Contrary to what half the guides out there still claim, Valorant is no longer on Unreal Engine 4. Riot moved to Unreal Engine 5.3 with patch 11.02 on 29 July 2025, replacing PhysX with Chaos and halving the install size. A guide still talking about UE4 has not been reviewed in over a year, and the rest of its advice is the same age.
The second factor is Vanguard. Riot's anti-cheat loads at Windows startup and stays resident. Since 24 June 2026, Riot offers an on-demand mode that only loads it when the game launches, but it demands a full security stack: recent Windows 11, Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, virtualization-based security, code integrity, and IOMMU enabled.
Remember that last point, because it contradicts what you read everywhere else: on Riot games, virtualization does not get switched off. Vanguard uses it to block cheat cards. Turning off IOMMU, VT-d or AMD-Vi in your BIOS to scrape a few frames can simply lock you out of the game.
What FPSDoctor fixes for Valorant
On a CPU-limited game, everything happens outside the graphics menu. That is exactly FPSDoctor's ground.
The FPSDoctor power plan stops your CPU from dropping clocks between rounds. The gaming tweaks take over system scheduling. Startup cleanup and game mode free the cores Valorant is asking for: on this game, the difference between a clean machine and a loaded one is counted in tens of frames.
The network latency and network responsiveness optimizations work on the network stack and on adapter power settings. In a game where you die in three bullets, that is worth as much as the frames themselves.
The GPU optimization applies a profile in your driver panel after saving what was there, and the BIOS assistant flags an XMP or EXPO memory profile that was never enabled, which is common and expensive on a CPU-limited game.
One honest note about the optimization that disables virtualization-based security. On Valorant it is a trade, not a free win: it costs you eligibility for Vanguard's on-demand mode, which requires that very feature. That is why it is unchecked by default here, and why we tell you before, not after.
And the BIOS assistant will never offer to switch virtualization off. It reports its state, nothing more.
The average gain we measured on Valorant
On Valorant a percentage gain looks less impressive than it is, because the starting point is already very high. What really changes how the game feels is stability: fewer dips when an ability goes off, less distance between your average and your 1 % lows.
On a high refresh monitor, that dip is what you see, not the average. Measure both before and after, the built-in counter shows them side by side.
